Book Description:
From bestselling and award-winning Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn creators, author Shannon Hale and illustrator LeUyen Pham, Things That Go is an original concept board book showing young Kitty-Corns things that race, fly, pedal, paddle, and go
Teeny-tiny mini-moo
Kitty-corns will read with you.
Pitter-patter fast and slow
let’s explore some things that go!
From sports cars to bumper cars, skateboards to hoverboards, submarines to trampolines, and every silly vehicle in between, Kitty and Unicorn demonstrate the many ways to ZOOM! in this original board book.
I continue to be in awe of the powerhouses that are Shannon Hale and LeUyen Pham. Their first board book together in the Kitty-Corn Club series, THINGS THAT GO, is perfection: perfectly adorable, perfectly hilarious, and perfectly voiced for a toddler.
This fast-paced book plays with the “one of these things is not like the others” theme that every Sesame Street viewer remembers. If my kids had had this book when they were little, they’d be shrieking with glee over the fourth example on each spread, which features a rather unusual vehicle. Anticipation of what silly moving vehicle could be next keeps young readers engaged, as do the pitch-perfect expressions of the animal characters.
I love that this board book, without saying anything outright, shows readers that loving super-cute pink kitty-corns, sparkly unicorns, or vehicles of all sorts isn’t gender-specific. And, while teaching toddlers about the different kinds of vehicles, it also stretches their imaginations and asks the question, “What makes a vehicle?”
Itty-bitty fans of Hale and Pham’s best-selling Kitty-Corn picture book series will love having a board book that they can memorize and then “read” by themselves. The book releases on August 20, 2024, but there’s no need for a time machine — just click over to your fave online indie to pre-order!

LeUyen Pham and Shannon Hale are the team behind the bestselling picture books Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn and Pretty Perfect Kitty-Corn, the bestselling graphic novels Real Friends, Best Friends, and Friends Forever, and, with Dean Hale, the early chapter book series the Princess in Black. They’ve made a bunch of other books, too. They are both moms of kids who love parties, wives to husbands who give them homemade cards, honor award winners (Caldecott and Newbery), caretakers of cats, and believers in unicorns. Pham lives in Los Angeles, Hale lives in Utah, and although they also have friends close to home, their best friend hearts are always entwined.
