Oh, people. I so enjoy a picture book that makes a good read aloud. POP! Goes the Nursery Rhyme, written by Betsy Bird and illustrated by Andrea Tsurumi, is one such book. Librarians and teachers are going to love sharing this one with their crowds.
This is what Publishers Weekly and Kirkus had to say about POP! Goes the Nursery Rhyme:
“A raucous celebration of rule-breaking that will have young readers eagerly anticipating each rhyme’s incoming “POP!”
— Publishers Weekly, STARRED Review
“Catnip for adults who like to perform their picture books to giggles and guffaws.”
— Kirkus Reviews
Nice, huh?
Things start off perfectly fine in POP! Goes the Nursery Rhyme.
Then this happens:

And things just get more ridiculous. Oh, the joy!
These are just Five of the Reasons Why I Dig This Book (I’m not going into details because I don’t want to spoil your reading experience. You’re welcome.):
1–It is read aloud gold. Kids AND THEIR GROWN UPS will have so much fun with this nursery rhyme remix.
2–It has suspense.
3–That little weasel is stinking ADORABLE.
4–There are two wordless spreads in the book. The second one had me laughing out loud. (Do you know how hard it is to get me to actually laugh out loud when reading a book?! Pretty hard.)
5–There’s an exasperated character who is having to contend with this weasel, and, oh, how I love an exasperated character.
Now go POP! into your favorite bookstore and get yourself a copy!
