Need a laugh?
Need an unexpected, unpredictable, highly enjoyable read?

Yes, yes we do! So here is DON’T EAT EUSTACE written and illustrated by Lian Cho.

Bear lives in alone in their lighthouse. One day they catch a fish named Eustace, and it’s obvious that Bear is going to enjoy a hearty fish stew. Bear gets hungrier and hungrier as they use a cloth sail to mend a broken-winged heron and to clothe an unpopular shark.

The humor is subtle and giggle-worthy throughout the book and culminates in an unexpected laugh-out-loud twist that is sure to elicit chuckles from readers of all ages.

It was really enjoyable to read a picture book that tells the tale clever both with the dialogue, as well as providing lots of visual story telling clues. The job of the illustrator of a picture book isn’t just to decorate the page, but to provide more of the story. When this is done well, that creates a book that a reader wants to revisit time and time again, and Don’t Eat Eustace does just that.
