This little LION ROARS into the world!

Hello, friends! The third in a baby animal series I’m doing with Paw Prints hit the shelves in late April. You can read about the first two titles here.

In this one, a baby lion cub struggles to find its roar. These books are designed by the talented creators at WonderLab (ex-Nat Geo Kids folks), and whoa, did they find adorable photos to accompany my text. Don’t you just want to cuddle this cutie (who’s trying so hard to look fierce)?

These books are written for preschoolers, and, as with the others, this one’s available as a softcover picture book and, for toddlers, a slightly abridged board book.

Here are inside peeks from the board book version, in order but not sequential. (This is identical to the pb version except for the text.) So stinkin’ CUTE.

I couldn’t be happier with these little books. And next year, I have a giraffe to look forward to. Wait till you see those pics!

In other news, Picture Book Builders has been named a Top Ten Picture Book Blog (#1, in fact) by FeedSpot! Here’s a link to the top ten and a snazzy badge we get to display.

THANKS to all of you who keep coming back — and passing along the word to other picture book people!

The winner of my last giveaway, who’ll soon receive a copy of Penny Parker Klostermann’s terrific SPIDER WOMAN, is Robin Currie. Thanks for entering, Robin!

  1. I’d love to hear more about the process of modifying the text to suit both formats and am wondering how much control you have over the decisions. This looks like a fun one for grandson who loves to roar! Congrats on this adorable new book, Jill!

    • Thanks, Charlotte. The text tells the same story, but the bb edition is just more basic to keep it shorter. See you soon. 🙂

These pictures are soooo cute, Jill! And the text is perfect–using minimal words to provide context without overwhelming the photos. I never really considered that lions had to learn to roar.
